The Department Laser Particle Acceleration is looking for a Postdoc (f/m/d) Laserdriven ion acceleration with cryogenic jet targets.

Postdoc (f/m/d) Laser-driven ion acceleration with cryogenic jet targets

Tasks

  • Your work will focus on the development of laser driven ion accelerators together with an international team
  • You will mainly be concerned with experiments at the high power laser facility Draco at HZDR to study, control and optimize acceleration processes
  • For that you will apply the novel laser target concept of cryogenic sources of hydrogen or other noble gases for high-repetition rate experiments
  • Complementary, plasma and particle diagnostics need to be used and developed

Requirements

  • Completed PhD in the field of Physics or comparable natural sciences
  • You are Interested to work on experiments in a laboratory, perfect would be experience in working with optical setups and high power lasers
  • Ideally, you have background in the fields of accelerator, plasma, or laser physics
  • You have an interest in the world of materials at ultra-low temperatures
  • You enjoy autonomous scientific work as well as project activities
  • You have excellent communication skills for the work in larger international teams
  • You have a very good command of English and are able to present results convincingly, both orally and in writing
