Tasks

For the research and implementation phase of the Horizon Europe-funded project “TRANS-SAFE - Linking Sustainable Mobility and Road Safety for Resilient Urban Development”, we are looking for a researcher for the following activities:

  • Support local partners in the development and planning of pilot projects that integrate sustainable mobility and road safety, in collaboration with international and local stakeholders.
  • Define evaluation methodologies and criteria for selecting pilot projects with a focus on sustainable mobility, gender perspectives, and road safety.
  • Identify technological and organizational implementation options and suitable locations for pilot projects in sustainable mobility and road safety.
  • Prepare feasibility studies for pilot projects, including financial aspects (e.g., CAPEX, OPEX) and integration into existing transport infrastructure.
  • Support data processing: Collect, analyze, and visualize data on mobility flows, road safety, CO₂ emissions, and gender-specific mobility patterns.
  • Analyze policy strategies and frameworks to support the integration of sustainable mobility and road safety solutions, considering national and local requirements.
  • Formulate policy recommendations for funding mechanisms, regulatory frameworks, and measures in sustainable mobility and road safety.

The scientific work is part of an interdisciplinary consortium funded by the European Union and coordinated by TUB in collaboration with international partners.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in urban and regional planning, economics, urban design, geography, energy economics, renewable energy or related disciplines.
  • Interdisciplinary research and project experience, preferably in the fields of renewable energy and/or urban and regional development.
  • Knowledge of analysis and derivation of economic indicators (CAPEX, OPEX, financial flow analysis).
  • Knowledge of methods and theory in the relevant fields of renewable energy development, international urban and regional research.
  • High level understanding of energy markets and associated policy fields.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Experience and excellent skills in writing and editing academic and non-academic texts in English.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes, or suitable alternatives.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of GIS software (QGIS) is an asset.
  • Very good knowledge of German.

Special Features:

Some international travel may be required within the project context.
