Research Associate (Post Doc) - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 2nd qualification phase (for habilitation)

Tasks

  • Teaching in the field of experimental physics
  • Research in the field of state-of-the-art spectroscopy (laser spectroscopy in IR and optical range, photoelectron spectroscopy) and mass spectrometry to characterize the geometric and electronic structure and chemical reactivity of molecules, clusters and nanoparticles in the gas phase, with relevance to materials science, biophysics, catalysis, atmospheric and astrochemistry, plasmas, and chemical reaction mechanisms
  • Supervision of students
  • Development and acquirement of funding for research projects

Requirements

  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master, Diploma, or equivalent degree) and PhD degree in physics, chemistry or related subjects, with proof of qualification available at the time of hiring; very good degrees are desired
  • Extensive experience in several of the following areas: molecular spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, laser, optics, electronics, vacuum technology, cryo-technology, construction of experimental setups, quantum chemistry
  • The ability to teach in German and/or in English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
  • Teaching experience in the area of experimental physics or related subjects

Desirable:

  • A high degree of determination, commitment, and the ability to work independently in a scientific environment and develop research projects
  • Experimental skills in dealing with complex laboratory setups.
  • Ability to work in a team and social commitment
  • Initial experience in planning and conducting scientific projects as well as supervising students
