Tasks

The Neurotechnology group offers a permanent position for a research associate at a pioneering interface of research and teaching in different scientific disciplines. The group brings together staff with backgrounds in computer science, mathematics and computational neuroscience. Our research focuses on the development of algorithms for analyzing and classifying EEG data as well as algorithms for games and puzzles. Our expertise includes classical machine learning, deep
learning, Riemannian geometry, realistic neural networks and algorithmics.

The tasks include

  • Supervising the measurement laboratories and conducting experimental scientific research on brain-computer interfaces
  • Conception and implementation of courses

Requirements

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD in computer science, mathematics or a related field
  • After completing the university degree, at least three years of academic or professional-practical work in a full-time employment relationship
  • Sound knowledge in computer science, especially regarding algorithms required
  • Experience in using versioning tools, e.g. Git
  • Sound knowledge of data analysis of biological, multivariate time series, such as EEG
    signals is required
  • The ability to teach in German and/or in English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
  • Experience in scientific work

Desirable:

  • An independent working style
  • The willingness and ability to work interdisciplinary in an international team
  • Sound knowledge in one or more of the following areas is an advantage: algorithms for games and puzzles, Riemannian geometry
  • Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge and extensive programming experience in the application of machine learning with Python
  • Experience with other programming languages
  • Experience in supervising student projects and teaching
