Technische Universität Berlin offers an open position:

Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 1st qualification period (PhD candidate)

part-time employment may be possible

Working field:

  • Collaboration in research and teaching (in German and English) at the Institute of Mathematics, especially in the specialization area of discrete structures in the Discrete Mathematics working group
  • Participation in ongoing funded projects and current research at the Discrete Mathematics working group
  • Supervision of seminars and lectures for mathematical courses, teaching of exercise classes (4 SWS for a full-time position)
  • Co-supervision of Bachelor and Master students/theses

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in mathematics with above-average grades
  • Very good knowledge in areas where combinatorics, graph theory and discrete geometry intersect (e.g. arrangements, signotopes, graph drawing, partial orders)
  • The ability to teach in German and/or in English as weil as the willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills are required

Desirable:

  • Experience with teaching, e.g. as student assistant, are desirable
