Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 1st qualification period (PhD candidate)

Working field:

Organisation and implementation of tutorials and exercises as weil as lecture support for the course Energy Impulse Mass Transfer I.

Collaboration in ongoing research projects oh e.g. heat transfer but also mass transfer processes, heat pump processes for cooling and heat supply, including sorption heat pumps and open sorption processes for air dehumidification and hybrid cooling and heat supply to increase energy efficiency.


  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (diploma, master's degree or equivalent) in energy and process engineering, physical engineering science or renewable energy systems
  • Very good knowledge especially in the field of energy-momentum-matter transport (relevant teaching experience) as well as thermodynamics or similar; willingness to acquire the missing expertise
  • Very good experience with open or closed sorption processes for heat and cold supply or for air dehumidification
  • The ability to teach in German and/or in English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills

Desirable knowledge:

  • Ability to work in a team, sense of responsibility and reliability, ability to work under pressure, aptitude for teaching and for guiding and leading student groups as well as practical skills in experimental research work
  • Relevant teaching experience, e.g. as a tutor, programming skills in Python, MATLAB or similar, experience in setting up and converting experimental test-stands, implementation of measurement technology and its digital acquisition, experience in the scientific evaluation of experimental measurement data
