Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty II - Institute of Theoretical Physics / Quantum Non-Equilibrium Dynamics

Technische Universität Berlin offers an open position:

2 Positions - Research Assistant - 0.75 working time - salary grade 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

The two positions are part of subproject T2 "Ultracold atoms as quantum simulators for open systems" within the recently established DFG Research Unit FOR 5688 on "Driven-dissipative many-body systems of ultracold atoms" (see https://www.tu.berlin/quantum/for-5688). The work will be conducted in close collaboration with the other theoretical and experimental subprojects of the consortium. It comprises basic research in Theoretical Quantum Physics. The focus lies on devising and investigating concepts for reservoir engineering and quantum feedback control in systems of ultracold atoms, for the purposes of, e.g., in-situ cooling, the controlled driven-dissipative preparation of collective and correlated quantum states, and benchmarking quantum master equations. The research comprises both numerical and theoretical investigations. The work moreover involves the presentation of the results at conferences and the preparation of Scientific publications.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (Diploma, Master or equivalent) in Physics or a related field and very good knowledge in Theoretical Quantum Physics
  • Good knowledge of English is essential

Desirable:

  • Programming skills as well as experience in one or several of the following fields: Engineered quantum systems (in particular, ultracold atomic quantum gases), open quantum systems, quantum many-body systems, and quantum non-equilibrium dynamics
  • High level of motivation and commitment, as well as the ability to work independently

How to apply:

Please send your application with the reference number and the appropriate documents (a full CV, copies of certificates, and a list of publications) by email (in a single pdf file, max 5 MB) to irena.koschinski@tu-berlin.de.
