Working field:

Thanks to its modern and comprehensive equipment, the IWF offers excellent conditions for theoretical and experimental research as well as high-quality university teaching. The offered position involves working on the research project "Competence Hub for the Industrial Circular Economy in Berlin" in close cooperation with the Fraunhofer IPK. As part of the project, current developments and best practices for the circular economy are adapted to the capital region and prepared for competence development in Berlin companies. The overall responsibilities of the position include project work in other national and international research projects in the field of sustainable value creation, the independent planning and implementation of research projects with independent budget management, the publication and presentation of scientific results at (inter)national conferences and, if required, the scientific coordination of the international postgraduate study program Global Production Engineering. There is an opportunity to pursue a doctorate as part of the employment.


  • successfully completed University degree (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, production engineering, industrial engineering or comparable degree in the field of sustainable value creation. Basic knowledge of production engineering and sustainable value creation is desirable but not required.

We also expect:

  • the ability to present technical/scientific content in a didactically good and understandable way, both written and spoken.
  • good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire missing language skills


  • high level of commitment, initiative, and creativity
  • independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style
  • interest in international, result-oriented project work
  • team-oriented; prepared to travel (nationally and internationally)
  • ability to learn new subjects quickly and independently, in particular for the preparation of project proposals, the acquisition of collaborators and correspondence with funding bodies
  • knowledge of common IT systems; knowledge of Moodle platforms Good
  • organisational skills and confident appearance
