The Chair of "Machine Learning and Security" explores the interface between computer security and artificial intelligence (AI). The chair develops new approaches to protect learning-based systems and defend against attacks and malware. It is part of the AI Competence Center BIFOLD in Berlin.
The chair is looking to fill the position of a research assistant (PhD student) for the Al Competence Center BIFOLD. The postion's task is to explore the trustworthiness and privacy protection of Al models and systems. The goal is to develop novel methods for detecting security and privacy vulnerabilities as well as adequate countermeasures.

Working field:

  • Research on the trustworthiness and privacy of learning models
  • Analysis of security and privacy vulnerabilities in Al systems
  • Development of protection measures for trustworthiness and privacy
  • Scientific publishing
  • Supervision of teaching courses and theses


  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in Computer Science or in a related technical area
  • Strong expertise in machine learning and/or computer security
  • the ability to teach in German and/or in English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
  • Interest and enthusiasm for cutting-edge research
