2 positions - Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

under the reserve that funds are granted; part-time employment may be possible

Working field:

Research and development in the BMBF-funded project "GANGES" (Aussuring anonymity guarantees in enterprise streaming applications) at the Department of Information Systems Engineering in interdisciplinary cooperation with partners from research and (energy and housing) industry. In particular, new approaches, technologies and methods for the practically applicable integration of modern anonymization techniques (e.g., k-anonymity, differential privacy) into real-world data streaming scenarios and systems are to be explored, developed and evaluated. A particular focus lies on the interplay with factors such as the remaining data value of anonymized data or the computational overheads introduced. This is intended to pave the way for the concrete integration of anonymity guarantees in real-world, large-scale streaming architectures while preserving opportunities for generating business or societal benefits from the use of anonymized data. Tasks include the research, prototypical implementation and practical evaluation of corresponding technologies. A follow-up funding is being sought.

Requirements:

Successfully completed scientific university studies (diploma, master's or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering/Management, or Industrial Engineering with a specialisation in Computer Science; very good programming (and software development) skills; excellent communication skills, also across disciplines; high level of commitment; very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken.
Also essential: Passion for new technologies and particular interest in questions of privacy and anonymization; experience in the concrete design of distributed systems and basic understanding of modern anonymization techniques (in-depth knowledge not mandatorily required). „Can-do attitude" and self-reliance.
Experience and knowledge in the concrete application of anonymization techniques, on systems and architectures for data streaming, in experimental systems evaluation, on the formal foundations of modern anonymization techniques or in the technical implementation of legal privacy requirements ("privacy engineering") are an advantage; experience in third-party funded projects is desirable.
