in the field of "Environmental Process Engineering".

Working field:

The position holder is to represent the chair "Environmental Process Engineering" in teaching and research.

The focus is on leading the chair in the development and optimization of innovative processes and procedures for the protection of various environmental compartments (soil, water, air). The research profile should cover the following aspects:
  • Experimental research on treatment plants for industry, agriculture, public infrastructure or on treatment plants for the removal of pollutants from the environment and their
  • Simulation, modelling and additional advanced aspects of digitalization, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital twins.
The aim of the research is resource and energy efficiency, avoidance and reduction of pollutants as well as a contribution to sustainability from conception to implementation in practice.

Teaching responsibilities include 9 SWS for the bachelor's and master's degree "Environmental Science and Engineering". The courses should be held in German and English.

Further responsibilities include leadership and management of the work group and its staff, promotion of young scholars, women and social diversity, knowledge [and technology transfer, internationalization initiatives, gender- and diversity-competent and sustainability-oriented action as well as committee and commission work.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must fulfil the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act); this includes a completed academic education in a suitable discipline, the special aptitude for scientific work (usually the quality of a doctorate), additional scientific achievements (usually a positively evaluated junior professorship, habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements) or special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of professional practice, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the higher education sector, as well as pedagogical-didactic qualifications, demonstrated by teaching experience and visualized in a teaching portfolio (for further information see TUB Website https://www.tu.berlin/go209650)
  • Evidence of independent and internationally recognized research in the above-mentioned research profile through relevant publications and successful projects (incl. patents)
  • Development profile documented by an innovative research concept, which expands and supplements the profile of the Institute for Environmental Science and Engineering
  • Many years of experience in the acquisition and management of projects
  • Many years of experience in leading a working group
  • Strong experience in working with interdisciplinary and/or international teams.

Desired:
  • Strong experience in the area of promoting junior researchers and women as well as in the area of equality and diversity
  • active involvement in the field of science communication and technology transfer
