Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

The working context is to build the next-generation systems for the Internet of Things and Digital Twins, e.g. cars, drones, and robots. The research activities will be carried out within an inspiring group, which has built several components for connected vehicles such as computer vision, robotic control, and networking. Such research activities are being funded by various projects, namely COSMO, BIFOLD, AIoTwin, and SMARTEDGE.

Working field:

The main scope of this position is to develop distributed data processing engines for dynamic graph data to represent data fusion tasks from computer vision and semantic stream reasoning algorithms. The position will be funded by AIoTwin, an EU project in that TU Berlin is collaboratively building AI solutions for the Internet of Things together with three other universities in Europe. An opportunity for pursuing a Ph.D. in TU Berlin is given.

Requirements:

We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated in pursuing challenging scientific ideas and solving difficult engineering problems. The successful candidate needs to satisfy the following requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or similar subjects
  • Very good programming skills in Java or C++
  • Very good language and writing skills in English; Knowledge of German is an advantage, but not a requirement
  • Publications or demonstrable programming skills/knowledge in one or some of the following areas:
  • RDF/Graph Database
  • (RDF/Semantic) Data Stream Processing
  • (Dynamic) Data structures/ Indexing techniques
  • Query Planning, Compiling, and Optimizing
  • Federated Data Processing Systems

Knowledge/experience in the following topics are advantages but not required:
  • Computer Vision
  • Robotics
  • Internet of Things
  • Semantic Web
  • Machine Learning
