Research Assistant (PostDoc) – salary grade 13 TV – L Berliner Hochschulen – 2nd qualification period (Habilitation)

part-time employment may be possible

Working field:

  • teaching and research at the Chair of General Linguistics led by Monika Schwarz-Friesel/ Focus on cognitive and applied linguistics, especially in the areas of cognitive text and discourse theory, emotive language processing as weil as persuasive semantics and pragmatics
  • research with a focus on cognitive and applied linguistics
  • teaching in the area of focus Cognitive Media Linguistics in the bachelor's and master's degree programs
  • supervising final theses

Requirements:

  • successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD
  • the ability to work scientifically and to supervise theses should be demonstrated by completed doctorate, an outstanding master's degree, and initial publications
  • experience in university teaching and profound knowledge in at least two of the following areas is required:
o Cognitive media linguistics
o Text semantics; especially Textweltmodell theory
o Language and emotion
o Political communication or political linguistics
o Verbal abuse and hate speech
  • knowledge of applied and socio-critical linguistic analysis with interdisciplinary links to cognitive science are desirable as is an interest in participating in project-related research activities in the following areas:
o Language, cognition and emotion
o Cognitive text linguistics and media persuasion analysis
o Hate speech: Verbal antisemitism
  • the successful candidate is expected to design a Habilitation project in one of the above areas
  • German language skills at C2 level
  • sufficient language proficiency to teach classes in both German and English is expected

desirable:
  • knowledge of applied and socio-critical linguistic analysis with interdisciplinary links to cognitive science
  • interest in participating in project-related research activities in the above-mentioned areas
  • willingness to undertake a Habilitation project in one of the above-mentioned areas
  • teamwork skills
  • reliability and ability to self-organize
  • English language skills
