Research Assistant (PostDoc) - 0.5 working-time - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

  • Participation in the preparation and implementation of courses (lectures, integrated events, seminars and excursions; Bachelor and Master architecture) and participation in the further development of the teaching concept of the chair;
  • Participation in the formulation of research proposals and in the artistic research of the chairs's main focus:
  • Participation in the project "Artistic research in public space. Time-Space Archive”, from 2022 to 2023. Research focuses on new post-pandemic teaching formats and digital exchange platforms in the international context of teaching, linking participatory art projects and digital applications;
  • Supervision of the ceramics laboratory
  • Contributions to the maintenance and expansion of the scientific and artistic research network of the chair as well as to knowledge transfer and exchange with a wide range of non-university actors.
  • Active participation in academic self-administration


  • successfully completed doctorate in the field of new materialism;
  • successfully completed master class studies (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in sculpture;
  • Relevant practical experience (at least 10 years) in the field of participatory sculpture with ceramic materials and installations, as well as at least six years of teaching experience in the field of visual arts within the architectural education;
  • Very good knowledge and experience in the preparation and implementation of courses, especially plastic/ceramic experimental teaching formats, project-integrated events, lectures and seminars;
  • Experiences in the fields of transdisciplinary art and discourse research with ontological mediation formats;
  • Experience in the interweaving of scientific-theoretical discourses and artistic-creative practices (to be proven through artistic practice or exhibition practice);
  • Very good knowledge and experience in the conception and implementation of exhibitions and publications;
  • very good knowledge of:
  • artistic research methods
  • the integration of theoretical discourses of new materialism in artistic research, art and teaching
  • experience in writing research proposals and the successful acquisition of third-party funds;
  • Experience in working with interdisciplinary teams
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills; sufficient language proficiency to teach classes in both German and English is expected.
