Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x)
At the Faculty of Mathematics, the Institute of Mathematical Stochastics offers a position as
Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
starting July 1, 2025. The position is limited to three years and comprises 75 % of the full-time weekly hours. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (usually PhD).
Tasks
The successful candidate is required to conduct research on a topic in probability theory (e. g. stochastic processes / stochastic analysis) and its applications. You support the institute in its teaching activities on Bachelor and Master’s level (Regulations on Duties and Responsibilities of Institutes of Higher Education – HSDAVO), as well as in the acquisition of third party funding and administrative duties.
Requirements
very good university degree in mathematics, preferably with a focus on probability theory or analysis; curiosity and strong interest in rigorous, methodical fundamental research; programming skills; good command of written and spoken English; basic knowledge of written and spoken German.
