Tasks

in a collaborative project under the "Industrial Collective Research (IGF)" program, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), knitted self-adaptive metal packings are to be developed for process control in contact apparatuses and reactors. The potential of these new metallic packings for process control is to be demonstrated using model reactions, and their influence on hydrodynamics and transport processes is to be investigated. To achieve this, suitable test setups will be implemented. Besides functional characterization, a dynamic simulation model will be developed to describe the interactions between the packing structure and the process dynamics, thereby laying the foundation for the process engineering design of a technology demonstrator. The PhD project also requires the presentation of research findings in journals and at conferences.

Requirements

an excellent university degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, energy engineering, technical chemistry, or a related field with a clear focus on process engineering issues; profound knowledge and skills in process modeling (e.g., aspenONE, MATLAB, Simulink) and data analysis/programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python); Enthusiasm for experimental work and engineering-related questions; creativity and interest in new forms of team collaboration and knowledge transfer to students; a confident communicator and presenter who works independently and systematically.
