The Horizon project PRECIOUS addresses the environmental impacts of food loss and waste prevention (FLWPR) and its rebound effects. The TU Berlin team estimates within this project through online quasi- experiments, the acceptance and the social rebound effect of selected food loss and waste prevention and reduction interventions. Social rebound effects, such as moral licensing need to be quantified and addressed for in FLWPR interventions. Indeed, psychological rebound effect mechanisms associated with FLW interven-tions, e.g. the choice of upcycled food products are likely to restrict FLWPR behaviour at the consumer level. Online experiments will assess the acceptance of upcycled food products. They will be conducted in three European countries.

Tasks

  • assessing trust and rebound effects and other factors’ relevance for consumer food choice decisions and FLWPR Choice
  • experiments across countries assessing consumer acceptance of selected interventions
  • close coordination with the international project partners
  • support in the tendering process for market research activities
  • coordination of international consumer studies Preparation of interim and final reports
  • publication of research results in peer-reviewed journals expected

Requirements

  • successfully completed academic university studies (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in the field of
    Economics and Social Sciences, Agricultural or Food Economics, with a focus on Experimental and Behavioral Economics Experience in empirical social research and quantitative analysis methods,
  • experience with choice experiments
  • excellent knowledge of statistical multivariate analysis methods and the application of corresponding analysis tools such as analysis tools such as SPSS, SAS, R or ecological and social design
  • experience in inter- and transdisciplinary work
  • experience of working in international teams
  • good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills.

Desirable:

  • independence, ability to work in a team, openness and commitment, willingness to travel, visionary thinking
