starting immediately limited for one year (100 %, salary group 13 TV-L)

Working field:

Within the context of a larger research project in the field of food production, climate chambers are to be further developed for the sensory-monitored and feedback-controlled production of various agricultural products. For this purpose, we are looking for a person who develops suitable technical concepts, designs detailed plans, as well as who guides and supports the technical staff during implementation.

Work tasks:

  • design and adaptation of an existing thermoelectric air conditioning system for small-scale climate chambers
  • design and manufacture of mechanical components using 3D modeling software and rapid prototyping techniques
  • programming and debugging of embedded firmware for self-built embedded platforms
  • development of climate control and illumination algorithms for various biological processes

Requirements:

  • a good scientific university degree (master, diploma) in the field of electrical engineering with a focus on embedded systems and mechatronics or comparable disciplines such as electrical engineering, computer science and mechanical engineering, which gives access to the corresponding qualification level
  • basic knowledge in control engineering

Desirable are:
  • experience in rapid prototyping using fusion360 3D modeling software and FDM printing
  • knowledge of electronic circuits and PCB design with KiCAD
  • knowledge of components for heat transfer using thermoelectric components for air conditioning
  • knowledge of electrical circuits such as bidirectional control of thermoelectric components, PWM controlled MOSFET driver circuits for motors, and current controlled driver circuits for multi-channel LED lighting systems
  • experience in programming Espressif ESP32-S2 microcontrollers using the ESP-IDF framework and FreeRTOS
  • experience with protocols such as I2C, MQTT, HTTP and web technologies such as HTML, JavaScripts and ThingsBoard
  • experience with code generation using MATLAB Simulink

What we offer:

  • interesting, challenging and varying tasks
  • the possibility to work on further and versatile research topics of the chair
  • modern office and laboratory equipment
  • an experienced and committed team in a family-oriented and collegial working environment

How to apply:

Informative applications should be sent electronically (preferably only one PDF file) under the keyword "241031_BOX" with the usual documents until April 12th 2023 to the following address:

Selection is based on suitability, qualification and professional performance. Chemnitz University of Technology endeavors to particularly promote women and therefore expressly asks qualified women to apply. In the case of equal suitability, severely disabled persons or persons of equal status will be given priority in accordance with SGB IX. In principle, the job is also suitable for part-time employment. Applications will be reviewed to determine whether part-time employment is possible.
You will use your research results for scientific publications and your own qualification. This is a position for further scientific qualification.
You must meet the requirements for employment according to § 71 SächsHSFG.
Please refrain from sending original documents, as your written documents will not be returned, but destroyed in compliance with data protection regulations. If you would like them to be returned, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your application.
