Injury in an organism leads to major changes in cellular organization and alterations of gene regulatory programs. Such alterations now become visible in unprecedented detail with single cell technologies. To strengthen our diverse team, we are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to study single cell multi-omics as part of the DFG sequencing project „The unique regenerative state of spinal progenitors“. We will investigate single-cell behaviour in zebrafish in the context of spinal cord regeneration using single cell omics, such as simultaneous single cell RNA- and ATAC-seq. Using multi-omics data integration and machine learning, we will investigate behaviours and gene-regulatory network changes in spinal progenitor cells in response to spinal cord injury. The project is a collaboration between the Chair of Neural Development and Regeneration (Prof. Catherina Becker) and the computational Research Group Biomedical Genomics (Dr. Anna Poetsch), where this position will be based. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to receive training in cutting-edge methods in multi-omics data integration and the possibility to learn and apply machine learning and deep learning methods on genomics data.
